She comes to school early and leaves after dark in order to give the students what they may not otherwise get.

 
River Oaks Academy is a low-income school and the students have much less opportunity for life experiences and academic enrichment, such as music. It is because of Mrs. Ray's devotion to raising-up well-rounded individuals that the strudents of River Oaks have the opportunity to increase their musical talent and improve their self-esteem. .
